Meet Ms. Theriot
Hello Scarborough family! I am the school counselor for Kinder, 1st & 5th grade this year! This will be my 9th year working at Scarborough as a professional school counselor. I am thrilled to be at Scarborough full-time since I spent my previous years split between two campuses! As a school counselor, I have the pleasure of delivering classroom lessons that address positive character traits, resiliency skills, and problem-solving strategies. Although I love working with classrooms, I also enjoy developing relationships with students in a small group setting as well as individually. I grew up as a "military brat" traveling to many states throughout my childhood. I attended Lackland Jr. High and High School before entering college at Texas A&M University in College Station where I earned a Bachelors in Science. I recieved my Masters in Counseling Education from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette. I have 5 yrs. experience teaching special education and 8 years experience as a professional school counselor. All my years in counseling have been at Northside ISD where I feel right at home. Scarborough is a great school community where I've had the priviledge to work with amazing students, parents, and professionals. I look forward to getting to know our newcomers to Scarborough and deepening relationships with students who are returning. Please let me know if there is any way I can help and encourage your child(ren) as we enter a new year. |
Meet Mrs. Acord
Hello huskies! I am thrilled to be working with your children this year. I am starting my 9th year as a husky and my caseload for 2017-2018 includes 2nd-4th grade. Ms. Theriot and I have the privilege of moving up through the grades with our students and watching them learn and grow. I was born and raised in San Antonio. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Trinity University where I majored in Elementary Education with concentrations in Special Education and Kindergarten. I also earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio where I majored in Counseling and Guidance with a concentration in Special Education. I have specialized training in programs such as, conflict resolution/peer mediation, Parenting with Love and Logic, the 40 Developmental Assets and Boystown Well Managed Classroom program. Before coming to Northside ISD, I worked for twenty years at a private school for students with learning disabilities – eight years as a classroom teacher and 12 years as a school counselor. I was excited to join the Helotes and Northwest Crossing Teams as a split counselor in 2005. I have also worked at Bob Beard ES. I enjoy working with parents, students and many wonderful professionals at Scarborough. Helping students acquire developmental assets such as self-esteem, interpersonal competence, resistance skills, peaceful conflict resolution, planning and decision making, caring, and achievement motivation is important to me. I feel that developing positive relationships with students and modeling appropriate life skills encourages them to grow up to be healthy, caring and responsible. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. |
