Counselors' Mission Statement
Working together with all members of the school community, Scarborough counselors provide guidance and counseling to students to foster emotional, social, and academic development. Our goal is to help each child achieve their highest potential to become resilient, positive, healthy, contributing members of society who are independent, confident problem solvers.

General Overview:
Since children may experience a variety of concerns at different developmental stages, Scarborough's Guidance Program offers many services that assist students in acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for healthy development. Guidance and counseling services are offered for all children in grades K - 5.
The guidance and counseling program at Scarborough Elementary is designed to be proactive and preventative as well as developmental. Students will be worked with in three different settings:

Guidance and counseling services are offered for all children in grades K - 5.
The guidance and counseling program at Scarborough Elementary is designed to be proactive and preventative as well as developmental. Students will be worked with in three different settings:
- All students in Kinder – 5th receive classroom guidance lessons with their class every eight days.
- Students may be invited to participate in a small group setting. A small group usually consists of 4 - 6 students at a time who are taught specific skills. These groups meet during the school day twice every eight days for 6-8 thirty minute sessions.
- Individual students are seen by the counselor when they have a concern which may interfere with their ability to learn or concentrate on school work.
- An appointment may be made to see the counselor by the student, an administrator, a teacher, a parent or by invitation of the counselor.
